Richard began his career ast a blue-chip stock broker then furthered his market education at money brokers RP Martin, as a deposit broker before setting up and managing a foreign exchange arbitrage desk. Richard then entered the nascent futures market by the mid-1990s, he had built one of the most successful Financial Futures operations in London and later sold that business to REFCO. He has since held senior positions at several foreign exchange companies, including Baydon Hill and Afex.

Working his way from the back office, to dealing in LME warrants, and then to the main execution desk broking orders for customers across the LME and virtually every major global market. While at Wolff, an opportunity to help set up a new LIFFE operation was too good to turn down, and it wasn’t long before the pull of the pits had Ryan hooked and he became a “local” trading my own money. His first major trading lesson was realising that even with years of being involved in markets, it does not prepare you for trading with your own money. Forced to learn, and learn quickly, Ryan was fortunate to have some very good trading teachers, and continues to trade his own account to this day, while also passing on the knowledge and experience gained through his career, to help others realise their potential.
